  1. jaredo10 - Jul 5, 2013 at 11:33 AM

    what time does it start?

    • bjbeliever - Jul 5, 2013 at 11:37 AM

      Noon

  2. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:06 PM

Hearing several analysts and reporters saying Ray Emery is a Flyer again. 1 year deal.

Also, apparently the Isles have re-signed Nabokov.

    • jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:20 PM

1 year at 1.75 million for Emery

      • isithockeyseasonyet - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:21 PM

Yup, hope his hip holds up

      • jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:33 PM

Flyers thinking was they could get same production from Emery/Mason as they got from Bryz for 1/2 the money. I agree with that.

Flyers now have cheapest goalie tandem in NHL – 3.15 million total.

      • aldog83 - Jul 5, 2013 at 2:54 PM

        Stanley Cup.for Flyers!!

I predict 17 wins again for Emery!

  3. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:07 PM

    Chipchura just re-signed in PHX

    • jpelle82 - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:52 PM

you know people could just read the top part of the article without you having to repeat it all in the comments. you dont get any bonus points for being glued to tsn and twitter and posting it a few minutes or seconds faster

      • greenmtnboy31 - Jul 5, 2013 at 2:22 PM

It seems jared is a little thick and
        A) can’t read, so your message is for nothing
        B) is a complete imbecile with no life.

      • lostpuppysyndrome - Jul 8, 2013 at 1:14 PM

        LOL thank you!

  4. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:10 PM

Andrew Ference just signed with Edmonton

    • jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:21 PM

4 years. 3.25 million per year for Ference

  5. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:13 PM

Come on Philly…make runs at Scuderi and Stalberg

    • bettwoman - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:21 PM

Lol Phil have no money. They owe money. No cap no new players unfortunately.

      • jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:22 PM

You can go 10% over the cap until season starts. Plus, Pronger is going on LTIR so that frees up another 4.9 million.

Mez is injured and, if injured by season start, that’s another $4 mil plus on LTIR

Emery was just the start. Philly isn’t done yet.

      • jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:49 PM

With 10% cap rule, Flyers still have $5.3 million to spend. Will have to shed some salary by season start (but that is easy with Pronger and Mez on LTIR)

  6. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:16 PM

Joey Crabb signed with Panthers. 1-way deal at $600 K

  7. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:17 PM

Daniel Alfredsson signes with Detroit. 1 year for 5.5 million

  8. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:18 PM

Scuderi will either join Leafs or Pens. Looking for 3-4 years at around 3 mil per. Ference and EDM a perfect fit.

  9. philly4lyfe - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:22 PM

I’d like to see them make a trade involving coburn for halak rather than getting emery. would like to see them get a stay at home dedender like either hal gill or scuderi as well.

    • jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:24 PM

Halak – I think that ship has sailed.

I had Halak as my 2nd choice after Ray.

Don’t think Coby wuill go to EDM either now that Ference is signed in EDM. Rumor was that Coby for Smid might’ve been the deal. Apparently, either PHL or EDM didn’t want to do it.

Would love Scuderi as well….Gill – not as much

  10. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:26 PM

    Thomas Greiss signs with PHX.

CORRECTION ON THE EMERY DEAL – 1 year at 1.65 million.

  11. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:30 PM

Mike Komisarek signs 1 year deal with Hurricanes for $700 K

  12. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:38 PM

Looks like Scuderi is leaning towards PIT (altho deal not done yet)….

  13. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:40 PM

Boyd Gordon and Jason LaBarbera sign with EDM.

    • letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:44 PM

Guess that’s why PHX got Greiss.

  14. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:41 PM

    Handzus re-signs with CHI

  15. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:44 PM

Flames talking with Flyers about Couturier trade. Stalberg to Preds, Weiss to Redwings, and Jagr/Grabo to WSH all imminent and possible.

    • jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:50 PM

Hrm…wonder what we’d get for Coots. I’m not very keen on trading him.

Stalberg to Preds? Rats if so…I wanted him over Gags being re-signed.

  16. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:46 PM

    Mike Ribeiro to PHX

    • jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:47 PM

      4 years at $22 million

  17. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:47 PM

    Andre Benoit to Colorado.

  18. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:51 PM

CBJ signs Nate Horton to 7 year deal

  19. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:57 PM

Ryane Clowe inks 5 year deal with the Devils. Wow. Stupid. Guess they really don’t want Clarkson back. Oh and speaking of Clarkson, the Leafs are expected to pounce.

    • mpg44 - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:30 PM

Devs don’t have a choice with Clarkson. Not making the same mistake as last year with waiting for someone else to decide the teams ability to spend. This was a bad signing due to the length , 5 years to a guy with 3 confirmed concussions in one year. Not using your head.

  20. jrs45 - Jul 5, 2013 at 12:57 PM

    Horton to CBJ for 7yrs.

  21. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:03 PM

Scuderi to the Pens for 4 years!!!! Welcome back!!!

  22. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:14 PM

I’m hearing Mason Raymond a two year deal with Calgary and I am also hearing Clarke MacArthur to Ottawa.

  23. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:19 PM

Isles getting better. Signed Bouchard. They just better hope he stops getting concussions.

  24. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:24 PM

test to see if I can get around the spam filter….

  25. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:30 PM

Olesz signs with NJD. Oh and I have a trade to announce: for all the angry Blues fans who insist the Blies should be more active: Blies trade defenseman Kris Russel to the Calgary flames for a 2014 5th round draft pick.

    • letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:36 PM

*Blues instead of Blies. Screw autocorrect.

  26. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:31 PM

Yann Danis – 1 year deal with Philly (ADK play)

    Spurgeon back with MINN

    Roszival back with CHI

Toronto close with Clarkson and Bozak

Keith Aucoin 1 year deal with STL

  27. predfaninaustin - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:33 PM

Some one please call David Poile and make sure he is awake.

    • jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:54 PM

You guys just got Stalberg. 4 yrs/12 mil

Also sounds like you’re getting Cullen.

    • comeonnowguys - Jul 5, 2013 at 4:58 PM

This will turn out to be the stupidest comment of the day. Aside from mine.

  28. tdsnbeers - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:40 PM

Hmm… I wonder what Darcy Regier is thinking right now? Is he on vacation or something? Cause last I checked Sabres could use someone like Gabrovski.

  29. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:41 PM

Douglas Murray could be a King or Av soon.

  30. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:44 PM

    Bozak is back with TOR

    DET close with Weiss

  31. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:45 PM

Clarkson is with TOR – just announced

  32. channelguy - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:47 PM

Clarkson and Bozak have both signed with Leafs, says Sportsnet.

  33. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:48 PM

Iginla to Kings or blues. Bozaks contract is 5 years 21 million.

  34. ironyisadeadscene - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:50 PM

Sure would love to see Boston make a move with this new found cap space….other than Rask

  35. jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:50 PM

Stalberg with NSH as “letsgopens” reported. 4 yrs for 12 million.

Sounds like Matt Cullen with be with NSH too

  36. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:53 PM

Cullen and Stalberg to Preds done deal. Oh and correction on Iginla: TSN reports Iginla signing two years with Toronto. Still no official word on him. Finally Preds make moves, they were stagnant for a while. Speaking of stagnant, the Rangers are pretty quiet today as expected.

    • jaredphi - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:55 PM

Wow. If Iggy sign with TOR, they’re loaded. Biggest mover and shaker among NHL clubs today so far…

  37. micklethepickle - Jul 5, 2013 at 1:55 PM

Busy day. Got to admit I’m grateful the Caps aren’t busting the bank (not that they had a lot of cap space to begin with)… I look at teams like PIT betting the farm, or at least the next 5 years, on this upcoming season. Big risk. Stanley Cups are hard to win.

    • cdalton2690 - Jul 5, 2013 at 3:37 PM

I agree that the caps don’t have the cap space to get some of these big names out there today. But the fact they are losing so many players for nothing and top tier players is beyond maddening. First it was Semin last year walks away as a FA. This year we trade Forsberg for Erat, nothing against Erat but he has a huge contract that we don’t need. Then they buy out Shultz, nothing in return for a former 1st round draft pick. Ribs walks for nothing, now hendricks. GMGM needs to go and now this team is far worse now than they were at the end of the season.

      • micklethepickle - Jul 6, 2013 at 2:20 AM

Just got to hold on and get a little better for 2014-2015 – when Kuznetsov comes over from the KHL!!!! I doubt next season the Caps’ll do well; but if GMGM plays his cards right we could be serious contenders in ’14/’15 (IMO)

  38. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 2:30 PM

Weiss a Redwing. 5 year deal around 4.9 mil (not per year so far). How about Weiss and Alfie on the same line?

    • letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 2:39 PM

It’s per, now. Sorry. Matt Hendricks signs with Nashville, Derek Roy is visiting Ottawa now. Dan Ellis is a Dallas Star now.

  39. valoisjoeybfeld69 - Jul 5, 2013 at 3:16 PM

Guess the brass in Montreal slept through the alarm clock. Thought they needed to get bigger…. Oh! Wait! They signed Briere. They’re all set I suppose.

    • kfrase99 - Jul 6, 2013 at 12:18 AM

      Tell that to George Parros.

      • valoisjoeybfeld69 - Jul 10, 2013 at 3:27 PM

Woooooo! Big George! End of the road Parros is coming to Monteal. He probably doesn’t have any knuckles left.

  40. letsgopens8771 - Jul 5, 2013 at 3:19 PM

    Val Filpulla to Tampa Bay.

  41. nyrnashty - Jul 5, 2013 at 6:33 PM

Bruins trade for Patrick Kane. Seguins mom is extremely upset! e4

  42. youcallthathockeyblog - Jul 6, 2013 at 12:09 AM

Johnathon Bernier signs 2 years in Los Angeles you say…. …… …..

  43. kfrase99 - Jul 6, 2013 at 12:15 AM

I really hope that when I wake up, they’re aren’t reports that Iginla has actually chosen the Penguins over the Bruins…again.

  44. rgledz - Jul 6, 2013 at 12:24 AM

You missed one, Nick Leddy resigned with the Hawks on July 3rd.

  45. chanceoffleury1 - Jul 6, 2013 at 12:26 AM

Small Error: Bernier is 2 years/5.8 million for Toronto, not LA.

  46. youcallthathockeyblog - Jul 6, 2013 at 2:32 AM
