The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed veteran checking forward Craig Adams to a two-year, $1.4 million deal, according to TSN’s Aaron Ward.

Adams appeared in all 48 regular-season and all 15 playoff games for the Pens in 2013. The 36-year-old Harvard product is a constant on the penalty kill and finished third on the team with 107 hits.

The Vancouver Canucks were reportedly one of the teams that was interested in signing Adams, but in the end he stayed put.

Fun fact: Adams was born in Brunei.

He might not have the most skill, but he sure has a lot of heart and hustle. Pretty inexpensive for a penalty kill specialist, especially considering what some FA’s are getting paid these days.

    Awesome! Love adams.

A heart-and-soul guy for the Pens. Very glad they re-signed Adams.

Cooke, on the other hand, I wouldn’t mind seeing him going to another team.
Yes, he made huge strides in reducing his goonery, but at the same time, I think he gave the Pens unwanted negative karma.

He’s gonna make some mistakes since he’s always gonna be a fourth line grinder, but I thought he was the Pens best overall PKer this post season. The ending to the season was ugly and a lot of things went wrong, but one thing that never failed or let up was the PK. I thought it’d be the Pens’ weakness going into the postseason, but they were great from the start until that very last faceoff. Good signing by the Pens!

They are right at the cap after Adams so look for a trade to get more room.

Watch the end of game 7 vs Detroit and Lidstroms shot. Adams threw his face infront of it and did it again on the next shot attempt. He is a heart guy and a underrated leader on this team. With this deal he probably locked up a front office job in Pittsburgh after he retires.

Ya a guy from Harvard who always gives it all on the ice. I think the pens already have a front office job reserved for him.
