Drew Doughty won’t be charged with date-rape

As Linda Deutsch has reported, Drew Doughty will not be charged with date-rape in an alleged sexual assault case.

Here’s what the L.A. Times wrote on June 19:

Sgt. Robert Higgins said the 25-year-old woman told police she met Doughty at a bar near the Hermosa Beach Pier on March 1. The two went to Doughty’s home, where she turned down a proposition in front of several teammates.

They took a cab to her home, where she accused Doughty of raping her.

The woman reported the incident to police the same day.

Higgins said detectives asked her to call the hockey player while they listened, but she refused. He said the woman has been “less than cooperative” and that the district attorney’s office and police have “found credibility problems.”

On Wednesday, the District Attorney’s Office of Los Angeles Count released a report where they stated their belief that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

“Drew has consistently maintained that the allegations were baseless and unwarranted,” said Doughty’s attorney, Craig Renetsky. “Charges were never warranted in this case.”

    Wow women

Again, the guy is from London so there’s no reason for him to do this. Getting a Western girl is easy enough, getting one when you’re an NHL star is automatic.

Yeah I would think its a double edged sword as a pro athlete. It is way easier to get with women, but the chance they will try to pull the “he raped me” debacle obviously increases. Although sadly pro athletes have done it before. What a mess.

They should always keep a consensual sex contract laying around.

Like in that skit they did on the chapelle show where he had the chick sign the contract. Anytime a woman makes a false claim she’s only hurting real victims chances of getting justice out there.

AS OLD AS THE HILLS …

This type of caper has been going on since the beginning of time … and with the absence of any apparent injury, 99% of the time this turns out to be nothing more than just that, a caper. I normally wouldn’t respond to something as trivial as this. But when it involves Drew Doughty, who together with Jonathan Quick are my two favorite Kings by far, then I will respond ! The bottom line is that “reason and common sense” have carried the day with this case and “thank God” for that. I’ll also have you people know that I used to live in Hermosa Beach (2000-2002) .. and the strip of bars there at Hermosa Beach Pier is a “gold-digging operation” that would put even De Beers to shame ! I used to go there sometimes, especially when I had buddies visiting me from Vancouver and it was positively hilarious ! Anyway, Drew is probably just a decent, albeit “naive” Canadian guy, much like me when I lived down there. Nonetheless, you’ve got to be careful, as this kind of stuff can “seriously” nail you if you aren’t careful. I had a “dance with the devil” myself during my time there in Los Angeles, but I fortunately survived “unscathed” to tell the tale … :)

    GO KINGS GO FOREVER !

“I normally wouldn’t respond to something as trivial as this.”

Me either, but your you tube bit is getting PAINFULLY old, pal and I’m guessing most folks were hoping it would end after the Kings won the Cup. No dice, unfortunately; you seem content to take up ten times the space of a normal comment with this pointless crap. Instead, I will say that I hope Drew and other professional athletes learned a serious lesson from the recent spate of cases that bare an uncanny resemblance to this one.

I also hope that you can see that it was totally lame to post this clip of a sexist-and just flat out bad-Rod Stewart song in the comment section about an NHL player being exonerated from a date rape case. At least we know that winning a Cup does not automatically bring good taste to the victors and their fans.

Right there with you williplett. He’s unintentionally funny at this point.

I like the Kings, and am actually glad they won the cup. But you fanboys are pathetic.

Story of the kings Stanley Cup win… They didnt meet the Sharks in the playoffs because we all know the Sharks would have won but, yet good win

    • themajorleagueblog - Jul 19, 2012 at 6:38 AM

What does the Kings-Sharks rivalry have to do with this story or their cup run.

Drew Doughty should ask himself at this point, “am I hanging out with the right crowd”.

Sharks would have choked, as they always do.

  9. legacybroken - Jul 19, 2012 at 7:14 AM

I know the Doughty family is there is no way this story is even remotely true. Drew is a nice down to earth kid. That woman was just a lying gold digger.

    • dangle13x - Jul 19, 2012 at 2:18 PM

Yea well I know Dave Babych so am I any more credible than you. I bet Drew Doughty has no idea who you are, and would laugh at your supposed connection to him.

The penalties for false accusations of rape need to be so much more severe. All it takes is an allegation, and your reputation can be screwed forever.

who cares about this crap news
he probably did it anyway I’m sure his immaturity on the ice carries over tto picking up women

Only in LA can two star athletes get away with the same thing.
