From the Associated Press:
A person familiar with the discussions tells The Associated Press the Buffalo Sabres have reached an agreement in principle to hire former Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma.
The person said Thursday that one holdup is a discussion over whether the Penguins are due compensation from the Sabres for hiring a coach who is still under contract with Pittsburgh.
Byslma was fired by the Penguins last summer, but remains under contract to Pittsburgh through next season.
The draft-pick compensation issue is one we can expect to hear more about, as many believe it should not apply to coaches or executives who have been fired:
Pens didn't seek compensation when NJ hired Shero, but Bruins did for Chiarelli hire in Edmtn. Pitt may want pick from Buf for Bylsma.

If PIT doesn't demand comp for Bylsma, how long before PIT gets roasted in its market for not collecting compensation that is available.
