The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without defenseman Roman Polak for the rest of Saturday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.

Polak suffered a lower-body injury and the Leafs announced he would not return.

Polak has dealt with injuries before.

Last season, as a member of the St. Louis Blues, he was placed on injured reserve in December with a lower-body injury, although it was reportedly suspected to be an ankle injury.

Update: As per Jonas Siegel of TSN Radio 1050, Polak will go for an MRI tomorrow, but, according to coach Randy Carlyle, the defenseman will be out “a while.”
