The Buffalo Sabres will retire the No. 39 jersey of goalie Dominik Hasek on Jan. 13, 2015, prior to a game against Detroit at First Niagara Center.

Hasek will join six other Sabres who’ve had their jerseys retired: Gilbert Perreault (No. 11, retired in 1990); Rick Martin (No. 7, retired in 1995); Rene Robert (No. 14, retired in 1995); Tim Horton (No. 2, retired in 1996); Danny Gare (No. 18, retired in 2005); and Pat LaFontaine (No. 16, retired in 2006).

Hasek was recently voted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and will be inducted on Nov. 17 in Toronto.

As a member of the Sabres, he won the Hart Trophy twice (1997, 1998) and the Vezina Trophy six times (1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001).

It was first announced in March that Hasek’s jersey would be retired by the Sabres.
