Video: Flames score center-ice goal against Canucks’ Lack

Mar 8, 2014, 11:32 PM EDT

There’s really never a good time for a goalie to allow a center-ice goal, but there are times that are especially inconvenient. Saturday provides one of those examples as embattled Vancouver Canucks goalie Eddie Lack gave up this regrettable tally from Calgary Flames enforcer Brian McGrattan:

On the bright side, Roberto Luongo hasn’t made fun of that goal (yet?).

    Brutal.

Wow Vancouver is a mess from top to bottom.

    • nothanksimdriving123 - Mar 9, 2014 at 12:42 AM

I don’t completely disagree, but it did turn out to be the Flames’ only goal and Vancouver won 2-1.

Softest goal I’ve seen in a long time.

they don’t need to tank. They are just plain awful on their own.

    IT HAPPENS

I recall seeing a game back in circa ’75 here at the Coliseum, when Tony O got scored upon by John Gould of the Canucks from center ice. The bottom line is that things like this will happen from time to time. Besides, Eddie lack is ‘good’ people (Swedish) while Luongo is nothing more than ‘deceitful’ vermin who’s managed to walk away from this town whistling Dixie to the tune of USD $64,000,000.00 …

FU LUONGO !… YOU’RE GOING TO ‘PAY’ FOR WHAT YOU’VE DONE TO THESE PEOPLE !

Useful comment, you sack of crap.

      • dolphincult - Mar 9, 2014 at 3:08 AM

Blomfeld, you and blowflo comment your crap on nearly every single thread. Its tiresome and getn old. One day you r a canuck fan pretender and the next your a kings fan. then u follow up like you are educating us with your precious commentary. Enough already.

It happens. Lack was sensational the rest of the way and was full value for the win. WTG Eddie!

  7. govtminion - Mar 9, 2014 at 1:37 AM

Oh wow… that was awful. I almost feel sorry for the guy after a flub like that…

  8. mrpinkca - Mar 9, 2014 at 4:20 AM

A lot of people are focusing on how awful the Canucks are that they are letting in center ice goals, and have been truly terrible for 2 months. I on the other hand choose to focus on the fact that Calgary’s only offense is coming from Brian McGrattan dump-ins.

    • ikillchicken - Mar 9, 2014 at 7:22 AM

Say what you will about the Canucks. They’re still the 3rd least terrible western Canadian team.

  9. patshal - Mar 9, 2014 at 10:30 AM

Luongo is an idiot. He should be the last one making fun of that goal. I realized he hasn’t yet but it’s so obvious the jerk will. I remember in the Stanley cup final against my team, the Bruins, he just barely saved a Dennis Seidenberg slap shot from his own end. And then shortly after, he criticized Thomas for not making a save for not playing in the paint. What a clown Luongo is. But I really wish they were still teammates. That would be really fun to see. Unless one of them killed the other.

Why the alias then Mr. Jacobs?

  10. mrhyperpants - Mar 9, 2014 at 11:05 AM

Typical two faced Canuck fans. I happen to live in Vancouver and know what most fans are like here. Such a fickle bunch. Never seen fans like it.

  11. slickdemetrius - Mar 9, 2014 at 11:05 AM

Oh oh. I feel my inner Austin Powers coming out. “Well that certainly was a LACKluster attempt at a save”.

  12. joey4id - Mar 9, 2014 at 6:22 PM

When it rains, it pours. As an ardent hockey fan it’s difficult to see a team self destruct as the Canucks have this year. Torts was the wrong guy to bring in, and Gillis has done little worth talking about. The Sedins will be 34 when next season starts and are carrying a combined $14 million dollar cap hit. Torts’ style of coaching is not a good fit for these guys. The Kesler/Canucks relationship is tenuous at best. Things don’t look good in BC.

    • blomfeld - Mar 9, 2014 at 10:19 PM

“Things don’t look good in BC” ? …

Well ‘ahem’ there Mister Joey/Slysipops/Flugga/Blomfeld/O’Patty/Sportsfan/Valoisvipers/Altdog/Ron/Namriverrat/Jimeejohnson/Halford/Tucker/Brough/O’Brien/Carter/Reagan/Bush/Kennedy/Clinton/Obama/Harper/Chretian/Martin/Mulroney/Clarke/Trudeau …

I’ll have you know friend that things are looking just ‘fine’ here in Lotus Land ! Yes sir, the Canucks are on a 1 x game winning streak, Roberto Madoff is finally gone and today we officially welcomed in spring with a balmy 13c day of sunshine ! And check this out, I’m off for two days now with nothing but ‘golf’ on my mind ! You just gotta love it man ! :)

ps: the usage of my term ‘ardent’ is patented and will therefore cost you CAD $0.50 !

AIN’T NOTHING GONNA STOP US KINGS NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
