Video: Brayden Schenn shakes off skate cut to stomach area

Jan 7, 2014, 9:00 PM EDT

It’s not that unusual for a hockey player to get cut by a skate blade (Zack Kassian’s bad luck was jarring, but not surprising), but how often does that happen in the torso area? It happened to Philadelphia Flyers forward Brayden Schenn on Tuesday, as he took a skate to the hip/stomach area during tonight’s NBCSN game against the New Jersey Devils:

Here’s a screenshot of the wound:

He didn’t really miss a beat, either, because … (waits for audience to shout “Hockey players are tough”).

    …………………….that’s not okay.

if that had been a basketball player they would’ve quit the sport.

No they wouldn’t. They’d have one of their posse shoot the guy. That’s how low life thugs are.

Thats a nasty cut, but it could have been a hell of a lot worse. He is lucky it wasn’t deeper and that it did not require immediate stitches.

Hard to tell from the video, but it was likely more from impact than from a cut specifically. With the jersey probably in the way (did that get cut at all?) that would have lessened the possibility of a direct cut.

The she-male took that cut, then went ahead and scored the game winning goal in OT. If she-males are all that tough, we men should aspire to she-male level toughness.
