Video: Red Wings’ Datsyuk goes top shelf on Hiller

May 7, 2013, 1:54 AM EDT

Oh, the poor water bottle.

Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk scored the goal late in the third period that sent Monday’s Game 4 against the Anaheim Ducks into overtime with a laser of a wrist shot over the right shoulder of Jonas Hiller. It appeared to break the water bottle on top of the net.

The Red Wings evened the series at two-games apiece thanks to a 3-2 overtime win.

The Wings need to give him all the money to keep him in Detroit. He is a once in a lifetime player. Just wished he’d use that nasty wrist shot more often.

Pavel Datsyuk is the greatest player of this generation. I loved watching him take over this game tonight and will his team to overtime.

Yes – so very rare to see a Center who can out puck-handle and out-skate most others, and hit D-men like a freight train WHILE picking their pocket, then score before they can respond.

      Wonderful to watch Dats play

Bingo. Best forward of this generation. You could give the guy the Selke every year he steps out there just like you could give Hasek the Vezina every year or Lidstrom the Norris every time he played a full season. He has the best hands of any player in hockey history and it ain’t even close. He’s the best passer in the league and proves it when he can be contorted, turned around and falling and still fire a blind behind the back pass voer 2 sticks onto a teammate’s tape. And you can only appreciate the sheer brilliance if you watch him consistently. He’s worth the price of admission, cable and any other subscription it takes to see him. Because generations after ours will wish they’d have a chance, the way many wish they could’ve seen Gordie, or Wayne or Fedorov or Lemieux.

I wonder how many people have called him hitler accidentally

I’m sure many Russians did in fact try to go top shelf on Hitler back in the day.

That shot was nasty, put it in a window barely big enough for the puck to go through and still hit twine

As long as I have been watching Pavel play he still does something that makes you go WOW!!

Yes, his spin-o-rama almost went in the corner and Hiller never even saw it coming. Beautiful.
