Red Wings’ Helm nearing return, White likely Friday

The Detroit Red Wings were battered by injuries early this season, but things are looking up for them in that front.

Although they suffered a 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, the silver lining is that Valtteri Filppula returned from a shoulder injury and demonstrated his health by netting a power-play goal.

it might not be long before Detroit gets more reinforcements, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Darren Helm (back) has been limited to just one game this season, but he might be back as early as next Wednesday. Helm is a key part of the Red Wings’ bottom-six forwards and will help them kill penalties.

Additionally, blueliner Ian White, who missed Wednesday’s game for personal reasons, should be back on Friday.

Unfortunately, the news isn’t as good for Todd Bertuzzi, who hasn’t played since Feb. 7. His back injury is still status quo and it’s not clear when he might return.

Suddenly, my Wings can’t put together a complete game and lost the chemistry I hoped they’d found for keeps… OUCH… and Hank is struggling. 2 Pts in last 5 games.

I’m very glad for Helm’s return… but cautious… last time it lasted one game.

Nice Filpplula scored in his return AND a PPG on the road

After last nights embarrassment I dont think it matters a whole lot. The Wings continue to turn the puck over, handing their opponents glorious scoring chances and Franzen cannot hit the side of a barn with his shot. Datsyuk had been playing with 4th lines and I am still wondering why Abdelkader is still playing on his line.

I should of typed Datsyuk had been playing with 4th liners.

I’m wondering why Abdelkader didn’t get sent down instead of Tartar.

Abby brings zero threat and all the pressure remains on Dats.

Nothing like getting a franchise player like Darren Helm back. This will surely turn around the Red Wings. jk. Still have a chance to stay in the playoffs, but not if they’re gonna keep losing to Calgary and Columbus.
