Video: Behold the power of the Tesla coil

Oct 23, 2011, 12:25 AM EDT

Finally (FINALLY!) the Tampa Bay Lightning unleashed the raw power of electricity on the fans at St. Pete Times Forum. After delays kept the Lightning from breaking out their Tesla coils, they unleashed Nikola Tesla’s favorite natural phenomenon tonight before their 3-0 win against the Sabres.

We’re huge fans of the Tesla coils here and seeing it put to use tonight is just incredible. While the Lightning didn’t put it to use to celebrate any of their goals, that’s something that will hopefully becoming in the near future. As for now, enjoy the sight of what it looks like in action in the arena with a packed house. (Hint: It’s awesome)

Always liked Calgary’s flamethrowers the most of all the themed goal celebrations, but that thing’s pretty sweet, it has to be said.

Its pretty cool, but Im surprised they are allowed to do it. Im sure sooner or later some jerk fan will sue them claim they were blinded by it.
