While Anthony scored a hat trick last week for the Thrashers, leave it to Chris to match him goal-for-goal tonight against the Flames and goalie Henrik Karlsson in helping the Avalanche knock of Calgary 6-5.

It might not be a goal, and Brad Richards of the Dallas Stars might not be known for being a heavy-handed shooter but Richards isn’t just shattering preconceived notions, he’s shattering the glass in impressive fashion. Check out the big shot by Richards from center ice against the Kings last night that rips a hole…

We’re keeping a stray eye on attendance numbers around some places in the NHL, and couple of games tonight stood out more than others. After shutting out the Maple Leafs 2-0 tonight, Thomas’ goals against average fell to a hysterically low 0.60 with an equally insane save percentage of .981. If you thought Tuukka Rask was going to run away with the starting job this season in Boston,…

It took eight games, but the #1 pick from the 2010 NHL draft finally has his first NHL goal. Taylor Hall gets his first goal thanks to a tip in front of Steve Mason off a Theo Peckham shot. Expect it to be the first of many in Hall’s career with the Edmonton Oilers.

Injury update: Marian Hossa ‘likely out up to a couple of weeks’
Oct 28, 2010, 4:28 PM EDT

Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville might have been more “in the dark” than “coy” when he discussed Marian Hossa’s injury last night. Quenneville provided a few more scraps of detail about the situation today, but only gave the terse explanation that Hossa will only miss a couple weeks. Quenneville told ESPN Chicago’s Jesse Rogers about…

Considering the fact that the two biggest potential 2011 free agents (Joe Thornton and Zdeno Chara) already signed lucrative extensions, the list narrows down to Brad Richards and mercurial forwards such as Alexander Semin. One of those mercurial forwards is Philadelphia Flyers sniper Jeff Carter, a player who can take over a game with his…

Leafs forward Colby Armstrong expected to miss 4-6 weeks with finger injury

While I’ll always remember him for the part he played in a ridiculous local commercial when he was a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Colby Armstrong is also known for his rugged style mixed with a touch of half-decent scoring ability. The Toronto Maple Leafs might have overpaid him a touch this summer, but he’s…
