Nail Yakupov, the former first overall pick, wasn’t a fit in Edmonton.
That’s OK. He seems to be doing just fine with the St. Louis Blues.
On Thursday, facing his old team for the first time following the trade to St. Louis earlier this month, Yakupov buried his second goal of the season, exacting revenge on his former teammates to open the scoring.
That has to feel good for Yakupov, who struggled as a member of the Oilers, particularly over the last three seasons following a decent rookie campaign, which was shortened because of the lockout.
But he’s fit in with the Blues, with a goal and an assist coming into tonight’s game.
