The Arizona Coyotes have re-upped with a pair of AHL farmhands, agreeing to one-year, $600,000 extensions with Brendan Shinnimin and Phillip Samuelsson.

The extensions, reported by CBC, came after both players made their Coyotes debuts last season. Shinnimin, 24, appeared in 12 games while Samuelsson, acquired from Pittsburgh during the season, played in four.

While both players have spent most of their professional careers in the American League, they could have a chance at some minutes with the Coyotes next season -- the club is embracing a youth movement and trying to “fast-track” some prospects to the bigs.

Granted, Shinnimin and the 23-year-old Samuelsson aren’t exactly kids, but they’re still young enough to be in the mix for spots.
