The Columbus Blue Jackets weren’t the only team, which found out they’re no longer in the running to land Mike Reilly.

According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, agent Pat Brisson informed the Rangers that the blue liner would not be signing in New York.

Here’s more from the Post:

The Rangers always were regarded as a long shot in the Mike Reilly Derby, but the club was notified by his camp Wednesday they have no shot to sign the collegiate free agent defenseman out of Minnesota, The Post has learned.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported earlier this month that eight teams met with Reilly at the scouting combine in Buffalo. The Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild are considered the favorites to land Reilly.

Columbus selected the Minnesota native in the fourth round (98th overall) at the 2011 NHL Draft.

Reilly had six goals and 42 points to go along with a plus-25 rating in 39 games with the University of Minnesota during the 2014-15 season.
