Buffalo added a pair of familiar names to their organization on Wednesday, hiring former Sabre Adam Mair and veteran tough guy Krys Barch in player development roles.

Mair, 36, played in 615 career NHL contests, the majority of them coming with Buffalo from 2002-10. He announced his retirement following the ’11-12 campaign with AHL Springfield -- since then, he’s worked as the director of player development at Canisius College, and with the Sabres’ Academy of Hockey.

Barch, 35, appeared in 381 games over an eight-year career. His best seasons came with Dallas from ’06-11, where he established a reputation as one of the league’s most active fighters (racking up over 80 scraps during that time.)

Barch’s last season came with Florida during the ’13-14 campaign, in which he played 55 games.
