Islanders forward John Persson, who made his NHL debut last season, has reportedly left the organization and signed with Swedish League outfit Farjestad, per the club’s website.
Persson, 22, was New York’s fifth-round pick (125th overall) at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and spent the majority of his pro career in AHL Bridgeport. The former WHL Red Deer product appeared in 10 games for the Isles last season, scoring his first big-league goal against Washington in April.
A fairly decent scorer at the AHL level -- 40 goals over the last three seasons -- Persson has reportedly signed a two-year deal with Farjestad. He was set to his restricted free agency with the Isles this summer.
