Call it a mutual split if you’d like, but either way, Claude Noel won’t be the head coach for the WHL’s Vancouver Giants next season.

The team announced that the two sides “mutually parted ways” on Wednesday, noting that the former Winnipeg Jets bench boss “would like to pursue pro opportunities.”

Noel stepped into the gig in late November, less than a year after getting canned by Winnipeg. The Jets went 17-23-2-2 with Noel as a mid-season replacement.

It will be interesting to see what kind of offers Noel may earn. Perhaps he’ll join the ranks of former head coaches working as assistants?
