The Hamburglar and Senators win again to the delight of hungry fans

Calgary Flames v Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators very well could give their fans a playoff berth. That’s to be determined.

But for those fans who attended Saturday’s game between the Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs, they get a free regular hamburger at any participating McDonald’s restaurant because the Senators came away with an important 5-3 victory over their provincial rivals.

From the Senators:

The Ottawa Senators and McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada announced today that if the Senators win tonight’s 7 p.m. game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, fans will be able to redeem their ticket for a free regular hamburger at participating McDonald’s restaurants in the Ottawa and Gatineau area on Sunday, March 22, 2015.

Tonight’s hamburger promotion is in addition to the “Big Mac® Minute”, which provides fans attending Senators games at Canadian Tire Centre with the opportunity to redeem their ticket for a free Big Mac if the Senators score a goal in the final minute of the third period. If the Senators score in the final minute of the third period and win the game, fans would be able to redeem their ticket for both a hamburger and a Big Mac.

Now, that’s all well and good.

But the Senators have been on a roll. And it looks like they’re having fun, too. Hamburgers thrown on the ice in salute to goalie Andrew Hammond, known as The Hamburglar, and rookie Curtis Lazar picking one up off the ice and chowing down?

Their win versus Toronto moves them to within one point of the Boston Bruins -- Boston lost to Florida in a shootout -- for the final Wild Card spot in the East.

The Senators have now won six in a row and nine of their last 10 games. And Hammond, he just continues to pile up the wins as the unlikely goalie hero in Ottawa.
