Some good news for the New York Islanders -- winger Kyle Okposo will travel and likely participate with teammates in Saturday’s morning skate in Florida, this after skating on his own throughout the last week.

Okposo, who’s been out of the Isles lineup since Jan. 20 due to surgery on a detached retina, was the club’s second-leading scorer at the time of injury with 14 goals and 44 points in 46 games. He was also playing some of his best hockey of the year; one week prior to getting hurt, he scored four times in a win over divisional rival Pittsburgh.

After returning to practice on Saturday, Okposo will probably start looking at target dates for a potential lineup return. Following this weekend’s tilt against Florida, New York faces Toronto on Monday and the Rangers on Tuesday -- it might be asking too much for Okposo to draw back in for either of those, but next Friday’s game against Ottawa (on Mar. 13) could possibly be in play.
