The Los Angeles Kings, like a number of teams in the Western Conference, are currently on the playoff bubble.
But just because the defending champions need to finish strong in order to qualify for the postseason, don’t be throwing the term “must-win” around coach Darryl Sutter.
“There’s no ‘must’ anywhere,” Sutter said last night after the Kings beat Montreal in a shootout, per LA Kings Insider.
“You don’t have to do anything. Just try and win. There’s no such thing as a ‘must-win.’ Nobody gets locked up or thrown in the ocean or anything like that. I’m not into that. It’s just a game.”
The fact that somebody actually did ask Sutter if they’re “all must-wins” now is possibly the biggest surprise in all this. If there’s one coach that’s not going to bite on that, it’s Darryl Sutter.
Still, we’re glad somebody did ask, because “nobody gets locked up or thrown in the ocean or anything like that” is a good line.
