Frederik Andersen didn’t play for nearly a month due to a neck injury, but the Anaheim Ducks goaltender didn’t miss a beat when he got the start on Tuesday, turning aside 29 of 30 shots in a 4-1 victory over the Arizona Coyotes.

It was the 25-year-old goaltender’s 30th win of the season and 50th career victory. The second milestone is particularly noteworthy in his case because he tied Montreal’s Bill Durnan as the fastest to reach that mark based on career decisions, per the Ducks’ Twitter feed.

Andersen now has a 50-13-5 record compared to Durnan’s 50-9-9 mark on Dec. 16, 1944. Andersen has certainly benefited from playing behind a talented Ducks’ squad, but for much of the season he’s also been a solid presence between the pipes.

Given that Anaheim entered the campaign with two relatively inexperienced netminders in Andersen and John Gibson, their goaltending was an area of particular concern. Although it’s been strained at times due to injuries, so far it hasn’t been an issue for the Ducks. That being said, with the playoffs just around the corner and expectations high, there will be a lot of pressure on Andersen and Gibson going forward.
