Trade: Rangers send Stempniak to the Jets for Klingberg

The New York Rangers have sent forward Lee Stempniak to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Carl Klingberg.

Stemniak, who is on one-year, $900,000 contract, becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season.

The 32-year-old has nine goals and 18 points in 53 games this season. The Jets will be his fourth team in two seasons.

Klingberg has appeared in just two games for the jets this season registering a minus-1 rating. The forward has 15 goals and 30 points in 51 AHL games with the St. John’s IceCaps this season.

The 24-year-old is a restricted free-agent after this season.

In a separate transaction the Jets re-assigned forward Eric O’Dell to the IceCaps.
