Jaroslav Halak has made history for the New York Islanders.

In a 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames, Halak recorded his 33rd win of the season, earning him the Islanders’ single-season record. He made 26 saves, beaten once with 21 seconds remaining in regulation.

As per NHL.com, Halak moves past other Islanders goalies Rick DiPietro, Chris Osgood and Billy Smith for the record.

Meanwhile, the Flames took yet another hit to their playoff hopes in the Western Conference. They entered Friday’s game sitting ninth in the conference and fourth in the Pacific Division.

They were also without their top blue liner Mark Giordano, who has an undisclosed injury. Even though it was initially expected he wouldn’t play, Giordano actually took the pre-game skate but was eventually scratched from the lineup.
