Sergei Bobrovsky’s time on the sidelines due to a groin injury has been an opportunity for 22-year-old goaltender Anton Forsberg to show what he can do. Unfortunately, the results haven’t been encouraging and it’s gotten to the point where he’s being returned to the minors even though Bobrovsky isn’t quite ready to play yet, per the Columbus Dispatch.

Forsberg has a 4.69 GAA and .866 save percentage in five contests with Columbus this season. Along the way he’s allowed some questionable goals.

Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards insisted that they sent Forsberg down so that he could play regularly and help the AHL Springfield Falcons as opposed to acting out of concerns regarding his confidence. Forsberg does have a superb 2.04 GAA and .927 save percentage in 27 AHL contests in 2014-15.

Oscar Dansk, 20, has been called up to assume the backup gig. He might not have it for long though because Bobrovsky is a possibility to return on Saturday or Sunday.
