It didn’t take long for tempers to flare between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals on Wednesday’s rivalry night.
Just before the midway point of the first period, a brawl broke out between the two teams -- inside the Pittsburgh bench. Everything calmed down pretty quickly. When the period ended, the Penguins had a 2-1 lead. All that came out of that: Eight penalty minutes, all for roughing minors, with Tom Wilson and Steve Downie in the thick of things.
