Bill Foley and his Hockey Vision Las Vegas group announced Monday that they’re nearing 7,000 season ticket deposits.

The group launched the ticket drive on Feb. 10 in an attempt to demonstrate the long-term viability of an NHL franchise in Vegas.

“The support of the Las Vegas community throughout this campaign has been incredible,” said Foley in a statement. “We are extremely pleased to be able to report that - in less than two weeks - we are almost two-thirds of the way to our goal of having the 10,000 deposits we are seeking in order to demonstrate that Las Vegas can support its first major league sports franchise.”

The group reached the 5,000-deposit mark in just 48 hours, but needed an additional 11 days to secure nearly 2,000 deposits.

Fans who place deposits for multiple years will have a chance to select their seats first, if a franchise is awarded. Fans currently have the option of selecting the length of commitment, from one to 10 years, and are required to put down a deposit of approximately 10 percent of the first year’s season ticket price.
