Winnipeg’s Dustin Byfuglien literally made his presence felt during his team’s 5-4 shootout victory over Edmonton. Midway through the second period he delivered a huge hit that flattened Luke Gazdic.
The hit itself was clean, but unfortunately the way Gazdic fell left him with a large cut on his chin that kept him out for the remainder of the contest, per the Oilers’ Twitter feed.
Ryan Hamilton tried to similarly knock down the 6-foot-5 Byfuglien, but his attempt wasn’t successful and Byfuglien was quick to chirp him over that:
Byfuglien finished with a game-high six hits in 25:54 minutes of ice time.
