Report: Jets’ Kane underwent shoulder surgery Saturday

Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane had his left shoulder operated on Saturday according to TSN’s Sara Orlesky.

Kane is expected to miss 4-6 months recovering from the surgery.

It concludes a crazy week surrounding the 23-year-old forward.

Kane reportedly had a run-in with teammates on Tuesday, which led to him sitting out of the Jets’ game in Vancouver.

After having a nagging shoulder injury looked at, the club announced on Friday that Kane would require surgery.

Friday afternoon Kane’s agent, Craig Oster, went on the defensive saying the decision to have surgery had nothing to do with the run-in Kane allegedly had with teammates.

With the trade deadline less than a month away, Kane’s surgery doesn’t prevent him from being traded as Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston points out. However, it likely changes which teams would be interested.

Kane had 10 goals and 22 points this season, but was limited to just 37 games due to a knee injury and suspension.
