The Montreal Canadiens have recalled Jacob de la Rose from AHL Hamilton, the club announced on Monday.
De la Rose, 19, was the 34th overall selection at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and has spent all of this season in AHL Hamilton, where he’s scored 11 points in 37 games.
The last player cut from Montreal’s training camp this fall, de la Rose scored four points in seven games at the 2015 World Junior Championships, captaining Team Sweden to a fourth-place finish. He was also a member of Sweden’s silver medal-winning squad from last year’s Worlds, during which he scored six points in seven games and finished with a plus-3 rating.
It’ll be interesting to see de la Rose in action. He really turned heads during the Habs’ exhibition campaign and outlasted a pair of other highly-touted prospects — Christian Thomas and Sven Andrighetto -- which was something of an unexpected development.
