Alex Ovechkin is doing what he does best, and that is score goals. He opened the scoring for the Washington Capitals on Wednesday, and added another in the second period.

And his second of the night was a rocket of a blast. Typical Ovechkin -- lining up on his off-wing and ripping a one-time slap shot that beat Marc-Andre Fleury. That gave the Capitals a 2-0 lead heading into the second intermission.

Had some velocity on that one, too. Ovechkin is now up to 29 goals, which gives him the league lead in that category -- one better than Tyler Seguin of the Dallas Stars.

Including tonight’s contest against Pittsburgh, Ovechkin has now scored at least two goals a game in three of his last five games.
