Team Toews was getting closer in the final event of the NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday, but the lead Team Foligno had built up in the earlier rounds was just too much to overcome.

Trailing since the opening event, Team Toews scored five times on 10 attempts in the final round of the shootout, but was still defeated by Team Foligno 25-19, much to the delight of the hometown Columbus Blue Jackets fans in attendance.

Jonathan Toews scored on his final shootout attempt, but it wasn’t nearly enough to earn redemption for the evening. Team Foligno was just too strong, jumping out to a 5-0 lead after the fastest skater competition, and leading 10-1 at the halfway point.

At least we know Shea Weber can still shoot the puck like a cannon, with a 108.5 mph blast. Yikes!

Perhaps that comes tomorrow, when Team Toews and Team Foligno meet in the All-Star Game.

For tonight, Team Foligno will celebrate the victory and bragging rights -- at least for a few more hours.
