Douglas Murray, the former NHL rearguard that appeared in over 500 games with the Sharks, Penguins and Canadiens, has signed with Kolner Haie of Germany’s Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

The 34-year-old will reportedly debut for the club this Thursday against league rival Mannheim.

Murray, who spent last season in Montreal, was unable to catch on with an NHL club this fall as his footspeed and skating ability notably decreased over the last few seasons. During his prime, though, Murray was one of the NHL’s most physical players and hardest hitters, thanks in large part to his 6-foot-3, 245-pound frame.

Murray also represented Sweden at the 2008 World Championships and the ’10 Olympics in Vancouver.
