L.A. Kings goaltender Martin Jones could be headed to injured reserve.
Kings’ coach Darryl Sutter told the media Saturday that Jones missed the team’s morning skate due to illness.
However, according to L.A. Kings insider, Jon Rosen, it seems a bit more serious.
From Rosen:
It now appears as though Martin Jones, who didn’t participate in today’s morning skate, could be bound for injured reserve. I’m not quite at the point where I’d be able to discuss the nature of his ailment – and I don’t know the full details – but if the Kings choose to place him on injured reserve, J.F. Berube would be recalled from AHL-Manchester. From my understanding, the injury isn’t something that would be considered a “long-term” ailment.
Jones is 4-3-2 with a 2.20 G.A.A. and a .908 save percentage this season.
Berube, who has never appeared in an NHL regular season game, is 19-4-3 this season with the American Hockey League’s Manchester Monarchs.
The 23-year-old was originally the Kings’ fourth-round selection (95th overall) in 2009.
The Kings play host to the Ducks tonight. The two teams split the first two meetings of the five-game season series.
