The Columbus Blue Jackets have locked up forward Nick Foligno to a long-term contract.
The Blue Jackets just announced the organization has inked the 27-year-old Foligno to a six-year contract extension. According to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch, it’s a six-year deal worth $33 million.
Foligno has scored 17 goals this season - his career best is 18 from last season - and 31 points in 33 games.
“Nick has been an important contributor to the growth of our team over the past two years and keeping him in the Blue Jackets family has been a priority,” said Columbus Jarmo general manager Kekalainen in a statement.
“The fact that we were able to get this deal done is a testament to Nick’s commitment to our team and this community and we couldn’t be more excited that he will be a Blue Jacket for many years to come.”
Foligno is in the final year of his current three-year contract worth $9.25 million. He was also a pending unrestricted free agent, according to Capgeek.com.
Nick Foligno received a partial no-move clause in his #CBJ extension. It doesn't last for the entire duration of the deal.
