Stephen Weiss is “ready” to play, and it’s expected he’ll in the lineup when Detroit hosts Buffalo Tuesday night.
Weiss has been injured and out of the lineup since Dec. 12. Limited to just 11 games this season, the 31-year-old forward has managed an impressive four goals and six assists.
In fact, five-on-five, Weiss, who struggled so badly last season, has been the most productive scorer in the entire NHL, based on points per time on ice.
Good thing too, because the Wings are hoping to snap a six-game winless slide in which putting the puck in the net has been a serious struggle.
“We need to score some goals,” coach Mike Babcock said, per MLive.com. “I don’t think we’ve played poorly, but you can’t keep saying that.”
“It’s been a tough week watching games,” said Weiss, “but I put a lot of work into getting healthy.”
Now he just needs to stay that way.
