The Flyers have announced 33-year-old Rob Zepp will make his NHL debut tonight when Philadelphia visits the Winnipeg Jets.
Zepp was recalled Friday after Steve Mason tweaked his back at practice.
Zepp is 8-5-4 record this season to go along with a .918 save percentage and a 2.70 G.A.A. in 17 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League.
The Ontario native is back playing in North America after spending the past seven seasons playing professionally in Germany with the Berlin Polar Bears. He’s also had a stop in the Finnish Elite League and ECHL after spending three seasons with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League.
Originally the fourth-round selection (99th overall) of the Atlanta Thrashers in 1999, Zepp re-entered the draft after going unsigned. In 2001, the Carolina Hurricanes used its’ fourth round selection (110th overall) to select Zepp.
He signed a one-year, $600,000 contract with the Flyers in July.
