For Alex Ovechkin, going four straight games without a goal is a long stretch. After being shutout for the third time this month, the Devils wish they had someone like that on their roster. Instead, New Jersey failed to find the back of the net and only managed 21 shots on goal in a 4-0 loss to Washington.

With Washington up 2-0 in the third period, Ovechkin provided the Capitals with some insurance while breaking his goal-scoring drought in style:

Later in the period, Ovechkin had an opportunity for a second goal on a penalty shot, but Devils goaltender Cory Schneider denied him:

Nicklas Backstrom finished with two goals, including an empty-netter, and an assist. Goaltender Braden Holtby picked up his second shutout of the 2014-15 campaign and now has a 2.29 GAA and .917 save percentage in 27 games this season.
