Video: Elias shines as Devils end five-game skid

Some say that age seems to finally be catching up with New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias, so perhaps it’s fitting that he showed some vintage magic against aging Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Evgeni Nabokov.

Watch Elias’ spinning beauty from Friday’s game, which clearly threw Nabokov for a loop:

Elias, 38, scored his fourth goal of the season on this play.

Update: That wasn’t the Czech forward’s only big moment of the night, as his fancy shootout goal gave New Jersey a rare win in the “skills competition” and ended the Devils’ five-game losing streak:

This 3-2 shootout win against the Lightning represents Keith Kinkaid’s first win at the NHL level.
