Colin Stuart is back playing in North America -- on Friday, the Journal reported Stuart has signed on to play with Boston’s AHL affiliate in Providence.

The 32-year-old had previously been with Malmo of the Swedish League, scoring five goals and nine points in 31 games. A former fifth-round pick of the Thrashers, Stuart has appeared in 56 career big-league contests -- most of them coming with Atlanta -- though he did dress for a handful with Buffalo, most recently as 2011-12.

Last year, Stuart played for Vancouver’s AHL affiliate in Utica and fared reasonably well, finishing third on the team with 17 goals.
