Rookie Sven Andrighetto is off to a hot start with the Montreal Canadiens.

Recalled by the Habs on Dec. 6, Andrighetto has points in each of his first three games helping him achieve something that hasn’t been done since the 1977-78 season in Montreal.

The 21-year-old had his second goal of the season in Friday night’s 6-2 win over the L.A. Kings.

“It’s a dream that’s become reality for me to have the chance to play in the NHL, specifically here in Montreal. We all know just how important hockey is here,” Andrighetto told the Habs website recently. “I saw that especially when I had the privilege to attend Mr. Béliveau’s funeral, and participate in the game in his honor. I saw just how incredible the fans are in Montreal. I’ll always remember that game. Those were special moments, and they were packed with emotion.”

Andrighetto, Montreal’s third-round selection (86th overall) at the 2013 NHL Draft, had nine goals and 18 points 21 games with Hamilton of the American Hockey League prior to his recall.

“He’s a skilled guy. He can make plays. He can pass the puck. He’s also really good with the puck on his stick. His hockey sense is there, too. All of those things are at a really good level already and he’s still so young,” said Tomas Plekanec, who has spent time playing with Andrighetto. “He’s a fairly quiet guy, but he’s asked a few times about plays here and there. He seems like a really nice kid who wants to learn. He’s just looking for answers. I’m happy to help him out and give him some tips.”

Andrighetto has three days off to help him get acclimated to the NHL lifestyle before the Habs get back to action on Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes.
