carterashtongetty

The Toronto Maple Leafs will likely have some roster decisions to make in the near future.

Carter Ashton, who was suspended 20 games on Nov. 4 after testing positive for a banned substance, is back in Toronto and eligible to practice with his teammates according to Leafs TV’s Paul Hendrick.

Ashton can rejoin his teammates for game action on Dec. 20 when Toronto plays host to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Toronto is currently at the roster max with 23 players. Leo Komarov has been out since Nov. 29 with a concussion, but remains on the active roster. Defenseman Roman Polak (knee) is on injured reserve.

While serving his suspension, Ashton has remained off the Leafs’ active roster.

The 23-year-old appeared in just three games prior to his suspension averaging 6:09 in time on ice.

In 50 career NHL games, all with the Leafs, Ashton has three assists.
