Dillon getting adjusted to Sharks style after November trade

It’s been seven games for Brenden Dillon as a member of the San Jose Sharks, his new team following a November trade that saw Jason Demers headed back to the Dallas Stars.

The adjustment period has been ongoing, as Dillon has been paired with Brent Burns. In his time with San Jose, the towering 6'4" tall defenseman has an assist and a fight. Getting traded to another team means getting acclimatized to a whole new system and a new defense partner. No easy task, although there’s one way to get used to each other.

“Well, you pick up on tendencies and Burnzie’s a little bit of a rover,” Dillon told the San Jose Mercury News. “Now, playing five or six games together, I’m starting to know when he’s going to pinch, when he’s going to go.”

“Every time we get off the ice we’re talking, every time we’re in the hotel, we’re talking.

“Every time we’re at the rink, we’re talking about this player here and that player there, and I think it’s really helped us.”
