Martin Brodeur is cashing in, one win at a time.
He was in goal for another St. Louis Blues victory on Monday, which means he earns another $20,000 in bonus money for the win.
He’s also up to 690 regular season wins for his career, as the Blues, thanks to late third-period goals from Chris Porter and Paul Stastny, defeated the Florida Panthers by a final score of 4-2.
Blues forward David Backes left the game and returned briefly in the second period after taking a slap shot to the face in the first period. However, Backes did leave the game for good at the end of the second period.
Hitch said Gunnarsson will not be ready to start regular season. Until he comes out of red jersey, he's a non-factor. #stlblues

After going to St. Louis on a tryout toward the end of November, signing a one-year contract with the Blues and making his debut last week, Brodeur seems to have settled into a groove. Maybe his first outing didn’t go as he had hoped.
But he gave up the one goal in relief and earned the win against the New York Islanders on the weekend, and was solid against a scrappy Panthers team.
Brodeur was tested 18 times in the second period. He was certainly up for the challenge. He allowed only the one goal in the middle frame. When it was over and the Blues accrued their two points, the fans in St. Louis showed their appreciation.
What a great sight. Fans still saluting Brodeur with chants of Marty! Marty! Marty! #stlblues
