Landeskog tries to keep Avs together through tough times

The Colorado Avalanche have lost three straight games to drop to 9-12-6 this season. It’s been a jarring fall from grace from their 20-7-0 start in 2013-14 and as team captain, 22-year-old Gabriel Landeskog has to make sure that morale problems don’t cause the Avalanche to spiral further downwards.

“That’s something we’re dealing with on a daily basis. It’s something that we notice here and there, and those are things you have to stay on top of. We’re going to have some meetings,” Landeskog told the Denver Post.

The Avalanche are coming off of a particularly demoralizing 6-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, but they won’t play again until Tuesday, so this is a chance for them to regroup.

Landeskog is preaching team unity in the face of adversity. The fear is that the Avalanche will start to play more as individuals as they sit eight points out of a playoff spot (going into Sunday’s contests).

“We’re a team, and we’re going to see this thing through, and turn it around,” Landeskog added.
