With the Anaheim Ducks bringing in Ilya Bryzgalov, the expectation is that John Gibson will be assigned to Norfolk and spend most of the season in the American Hockey League.
Bryzgalov will backup Frederik Andersen in Anaheim.
Gibson is currently on injured reserve nursing a groin injury and according TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, once healthy, Gibson will head to the AHL.
The 21-year-old was 2-2-0 in four games with the Ducks this season while posting a .927 save percentage and a 2.28 goals-against average.
In two games with Norfolk this season, Gibson is 1-1-0 with a .902 save percentage and a 3.05 goals-against average.
