Here’s the latest on Hockey Hall of Famer Gordie Howe who, earlier today, was reportedly hospitalized in an intensive care unit following what his son, Mark, classified as a “serious stroke.”
Howe’s other son, Murray -- who’s a radiologist -- has provided more clarity regarding his father’s condition, per MLive:
The condition of hockey legend Gordie Howe took a turn for the worse on Monday when the former Detroit Red Wings was hospitalized after fears that he might have suffered his second major stroke in a little more than five weeks.
“We are awaiting test results at this time to determine whether he has had a new stroke,” son Murray, said in a text to M-Live. “He is responding and resting comfortably with family while in hospital currently. He is not in an ICU.”
Per additional reports from the Associated Press, Howe’s daughter, Cathy Purnell, said the 86-year-old was stable and “a little bit alert” as of Tuesday morning, and was being monitored by doctors at a Lubbock-area hospital.
Earlier, the Detroit Free Press had quoted Mark Howe saying his father “had a major stroke,” and was “in ICU.” The Free Press has since updated its story.
