Video: Dorsett misses hit, flips into opposing bench

Dorsett miss

The Vancouver Canucks’ Derek Dorsett tried to deliver a big hit into the boards to Columbus forward Brian Gibbons, but he missed his target entirely and ended up tumbling head first into the Blue Jackets’ bench.

Here’s the blooper reel worthy moment:

It was a familiar place for Dorsett as he was originally drafted by Columbus in 2006. He was shipped to the New York Rangers in 2013 as part of the Marian Gaborik trade and was dealt to the Canucks approximately 14 months later in exchange for a third-round 2014 draft pick (Keegan Iverson).

Dorsett still comes to Columbus over the summer.

“I fell in love with the city,” Dorsett recently told the Vancouver Sun. “It’s a big city, but it has a small-town feel. It’s not like there is a big downtown where’s it’s rush hour all the time. It takes 20 minutes to get anywhere in the city from downtown. People are real nice and friendly, mid-western folks. It’s got everything you need.”

Given that, his brief visit makes perfect sense.
