The Oilers once again came close to ending their losing streak, but were unsuccessful. This time they fell 4-3 in overtime to the St. Louis Blues. Edmonton has now lost nine consecutive contests.

Vladimir Tarasenko continued his impressive 2014-15 campaign by scoring his third game-winning goal of the season.

“I think everyone stood up before he even shot it and I already figured it was going in, so I didn’t even see it,” T.J. Oshie told NHL.com writer Lou Korac.

Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo was also a big contributor with a goal, assist, and 10 shots on goal. He was the first player to post a double-digit shot total since Al MacInnis in 2003, per the NHL.

Edmonton Oilers goaltender Ben Scrivens turned aside 37 shots while David Perron, Nikita Nikitin, and Mark Arcobello each found the back of the net, but it wasn’t enough. The Oilers have now come within one goal of a victory in three straight games, although it’s hard to paint them as unlucky after they were outshot 41-16 tonight.

“If we had everyone playing with the same desperation as him (Scrivens), we could have had the win,” Perron remarked, per the team’s Twitter feed.

Edmonton will try to stop the bleeding on Monday against the Arizona Coyotes.
