Jaromir Jagr will turn 43-years-old in February, but he’s still able to contribute at a high level as was the case tonight when he took advantage of a rebound to score an early goal against the Detroit Red Wings:

That was the 709th goal of Jagr’s career, which breaks his tie with Mike Gartner for sixth place in the league’s all-time goals list. Jagr is eight goals shy of Phil Esposito and 22 behind Marcel Dionne.

Jagr later registered an assist to bring him up to 1,770 career points. That’s just one away from Dionne and fifth place on the all-time points leaderboard. Ron Francis holds fourth place with 1,798 points. After that it would be a long push to reach Gordie Howe (1,850), given Jagr’s age.

Of course, Jagr is reaching these milestones despite the fact that he left the NHL to spend three seasons with the KHL’s Omsk Avangard.
